H.E. Bryce with the Board of Management of St Dominic’s Hostel. |
|
On Monday 27 October 2008, St Dominic’s Hostel had the privilege of having an official visit by Her Excellency Quentin, Bryce, the first female Governor General of the Commonwealth of Australia. After meeting several representatives of Maltese Associations in NSW at La Vallette, H. E. Bryce walked through our gardens and met the Sisters, Board of Management, Residents, Staff and other guests in the New Hall. She took time to appreciate the multitude of talents of the residents that were displayed for the occasion at the Hall entrance. She even made sure to stop at several tables and talk to a number of the residents. Though her time was short her visit was very significant. She was given several tokens from the residents as means of appreciation of her visit. Amongst her positive remarks she commented favourably on the roses that are in bloom in the gardens that gave out a lovely perfume as she walked in and the beautiful building. She unveiled a commemorative plaque for the occasion which is now displayed in the Foyer of the New Hall. |
